INTEGRATION OF YOUNG PEOPLE INTO THE AGRICULTURAL SECTOR: AUDITORS FROM THE LAKE REGION TRAINED IN ABOVEGROUND FARMING TECHNIQUES
Abidjan, March 12, 2022 — A total of five auditors, including two women from the Lake Region, were trained for five days in aboveground farming techniques at the National Agency for Rural Development Support (ANADER) training center in Bingerville.
Soil-less cultivation refers to the cultivation of plants above ground. Thanks to substrates and water enriched with nutrients, plants grow faster and contract fewer diseases. The idea of growing above ground is an alternative to traditional cultivation. It has the advantage of eliminating soil-related problems, guaranteeing better product quality, as well as increasing yield.
The Minister Governor of the Lakes District, Raymonde Goudou Coffie, who presented the final diplomas to auditors on Friday, March 11, 2022, noted that this pilot project, which will be implemented in the Great Lakes region, is in line with the vision of President Alassane OUATTARA to reduce unemployment and promote the economic and social integration of young people.
Raymonde Goudou Coffie said that the role of the minister is to carry out local actions in favor of populations in order to improve their living conditions.
She promised to install the five auditors who benefited from the training session in order to enable them to train other young people.
The Technical Advisor of ANADER, Nathalie Konan Bogui, for her part, said that soil-less cultivation contributes to the modernization and competitiveness of Ivorian agriculture.
The director of the ANADER training center, Brahima Koné, welcomed the commitment of the Minister Governor to provide assistance to young people in rural areas and invited other regions to take ownership of this project.
