Invasive exotic plant species are a threat to the biodiversity of plantations. The main objective of this study is to improve knowledge about Lantana Camara. For this, plant and soil samples were collected in invaded and non-invaded coconut groves in order to analyze the impact of L. camara on floristic diversity and physicochemical properties of the soil. Diversity indices, relative frequencies, specific contributions were calculated and an infestation diagram was produced. The results show that the flora of invaded coconut groves is less diverse than that of non-invaded coconut groves. In invaded coconut groves, L. camara is very regular and aggressive with a relative frequency of 96.5 p.c. and a specific contribution of 9.2. The infestation diagram shows that the species has a high potential to cause harm. The soils are characterized by a sandy texture. The soils under the overgrown coconut groves are more acidic and richer in total nitrogen. On the other hand, the soils of non-invaded coconut groves are less acidic and richer in assimilable potassium. These results reflect the harmful potential of this species. Management measures must be put in place to curb its invasion of Côte d'Ivoire.
