Assessment of ecosystem services in the Banco National Park (PNB) for the city of Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire

From “Banco Forest Station” in 1926, then Forêt Classée in 1935, the Banco forest was established as the first National Park of Côte d'Ivoire in 1953. Today the Banco National Park (PNB) covers an area of 3,438.34 ha. The Banco forest belongs to dense humid evergreen forests, linked to equatorial or subequatorial climates. The Park is located in the city of Abidjan, the economic capital of Côte d'Ivoire. The presence of numerous precarious neighborhoods and informal activities is important around the Park with its corollary of anthropogenic pressures on the resources of the Park. The multiple benefits of GNP have been evaluated by the concept of ecosystem services. Ecosystem Services represent benefits that human beings derive from nature for their well-being.
