Diversity of timber species threatened with the disappearance of the flora of Côte d'Ivoire, in the Yapo-Abbé forest
The present study was carried out in the Massif Forestier Yapo-abbé (MFYA), in the south-east of Côte d'Ivoire. It aims to assess the diversity of timber species included in the IUCN Red List (2018).
The surface survey method was used to inventory and identify these species in the three forest blocks of the massif.
The results show that the MFYA is rich in 22 species of timber included in the IUCN Red List (2018). These 22 species are divided into fifteen vulnerable species (68.2%), five species of least concern (22.8%), one near threatened species (4.5%) and another endangered species (4.5%) and another endangered species (4.5%). The frequency of occurrence of species made it possible to obtain three groups of species: group 1 (constant species) has one species, group 2 (accessory species) consists of six species; as for group 3 (rare species), it is composed of fifteen species.
The three biotopes of the MFYA are poorly diversified, which is why it is necessary to enrich them with group 3 species, in particular the forest plantations and fallow blocks, for the sustainable management of said massif.
