Structure and composition of vegetation in the sub-Sudanese zone (Department of Dianra, North-West of Côte d'Ivoire): descriptive and comparative study
This study aims to contribute to the knowledge of floristic diversity and to the characterization of plant formations in the Sub-Sudanese zone. For this purpose, a total of 102 plots with an area of 400 m² each have been established in these biotopes.
Their floristic richness varies between 82 species for grassy savannas to 248 for dry forests. The dominant families are Fabaceae and Rubiaceae, except for grassy savannas which are dominated by Poaceae and Fabaceae.
The dominance of Guineo-Congolese and Sudano-Zambezian transition species is a characteristic common to biotopes.
The analysis of the biological traits of species made it possible to distinguish three groups of formations: grassy savannas, characterized by herbaceous species, the group of tree and shrub savannas rich in shrubby and herbaceous species. These two groups have the highest proportions of Sudano-Zambesian species.
The group, formed by forest facies and wooded savannas, is characterized by trees and GC species.
Wooded savannas are the only plant formation that has similarities with forests and savannas.
