Taï National Park Business Plan

The great interest in Taï National Park is justified on the one hand, by the fact that it represents, together with the contiguous N'Zo Wildlife Reserve, the largest block of primary tropical forest under protection in the entire West African zone, of which they represent, in fact, more than 50% of the total area. On the other hand, this complex is full of exceptional biological diversity to which a multitude of ecosystem services are attached, thus contributing to the well-being of populations. A natural site of such
environmental, social and economic importance deserves special measures in order to ensure its sustainable management. This is what the OIPR and its partners have fully understood by providing it with appropriate management tools that comply with international standards in terms of nature conservation. Thus, the first development and management plan, which covered the period 2006-2015, was revised in 2014 to produce a new version ranging from 2014 to 2018. As a continuation of this updating process, the “Touraco” plan, PNT's business plan for the period 2008-2012, was also revisited with the input of all stakeholders to
produce a new document providing in a legible and transparent manner the state of conservation of the park,
its potentialities and especially its needs for effective and sustainable management. This plan has the particularity of having been prepared by the park management team with the support of two international consultants appointed by GIZ. It
should also be noted that this document was prepared on the basis of the methodological guide for developing business plans for natural World Heritage sites and protected areas developed by the SHELL Foundation in partnership with the UNESCO World Heritage Centre.
