2021 National Environment and Sustainable Development Fortnight

Through the celebration of the National Fortnight for Environment and Sustainable Development (QNEDD), we want to invite each inhabitant of Côte d'Ivoire to pause to take stock of their actions taken in favor of or against the environment, our common good”, urged Jean-Luc Assi.

He encouraged all citizens to take a strong and concrete action for the Environment, through simple actions such as “dressing in green or wearing a green accessory, planting a tree or watering a tree, making their living environment healthy, and symbolically stopping the engines of vehicles and machines in industrial areas for one minute.”

For her part, the head of the UN Environment Office for West Africa, Angèle Luh, welcomed the QNEDD initiative.

She called on governments to incorporate the consideration of natural capital into their decisions and use policies and regulatory frameworks to encourage businesses to do the same.

Placed on the general theme “The health of nature is our health”, the QNEDD 2021 is organized around three celebrations. In particular, World Environment Day on 5 June, World Oceans Day on 5 June, World Oceans Day on 8 June and World Day to Combat Desertification and Drought on 17 June.
