The Herbarium is a strategic tool in the inventory and conservation of biodiversity. It is kept in a herbarium, a place for documentation and consultation of specimens and as such is highly sought after by students, researchers and the general public. The herbarium is a teaching and research tool of paramount importance for several disciplines ranging from botany, to taxonomy, through phylogeny, ecology and biogeography. It plays a conservatory role for plant samples, but above all an educational role for students who use them as learning and sample determination tools.

The aim is to improve the quality of herbarium collections in Côte d'Ivoire by ensuring the maintenance and enrichment of botanical specimen collections. This feedback workshop is intended to present the summary of the results obtained on “Modernization and capacity building of herbariums in Côte d'Ivoire”. The other objective of this activity was to write a perspective note (a Policy Brief) for decision-makers to develop ideas and help decision-making on the conservation of Biodiversity in Côte d'Ivoire.
