How to support the changes in the behavior of populations necessary for the good management of a protected area through environmental education? In
other words, what collaboration mechanisms should be implemented with local communities in order to involve them in the management of a park? That is the question this article attempts to answer. As an objective, it aims to understand the participatory management method used in the Marahoué Park in order to bring populations to awareness and responsibility in the conservation of this protected area. To achieve this objective, semi-structured questions and
interviews were carried out with 76 individuals from the key actors involved in the management of this park. The results of this investigation reveal, on the one hand, the difficulties encountered in the participatory management implemented in this protected area and, on the other hand, note the need to instill a change in behavior in the neighboring populations in order to ensure the success of this management. These results also recommend the addition of modules related to environmental education.
