Signature d'un accord entre le Ministère de l'Economie et des Finances et la Fondation des Parcs et Réserves de Côte d'Ivoire
With a view to reducing greenhouse gas emissions due to deforestation and forest degradation (REDD+) in order to ensure sustainable and resilient development in the face of climate change, Côte d' Ivoire suggested in 2019 to the World Bank, the Emission Reduction Program around the Taï National Park for the period from 2020 to 2024. Indeed, the Carbon Fund undertakes to buy from the Republic of Côte d'Ivoire a volume of emission reductions estimated at 10 million tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent for a total amount of fifty million dollars (50,000,000 US$) as results-based payments. To do this, a subsidiary agreement has been concluded between the Ministry of Economy and Finance of the Ivorian government and the Foundation for Parks and Reserves of Côte d'Ivoire (FPRCI), the entity responsible for the management, distribution and monitoring of payments "Emission Reductions". The signing ceremony of the Agreement took place on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 in Abidjan-Plateau, in the Conference Room on the 20th floor of the SCIAM Building.
